Intended Family Africa is committed to empowering youth aged 9–19, child-headed households and single-parent families in communities facing poverty and violence. Through weekly mentorship sessions, we provide consistent guidance, personal development and safe spaces of belonging where resilience is nurtured. Our Youth and Single Parent Camps extend this support, offering immersive experiences that restore hope, strengthen family bonds, and equip participants with tools to thrive despite daily challenges. By walking alongside young people and caregivers, we ensure they are guided toward opportunities that transform their circumstances, shaping future leaders with confidence, strength and vision.
Intended Family Africa operates as a closed loop model powered by partnerships with the private sector, churches and businesses committed to social impact. Our initiatives are designed to create opportunities for unemployed youth and caregivers while uplifting marginalised communities across South Africa.
Through our Mobile Kitchen program, young people receive hands-on training in culinary arts, operations management and entrepreneurship, equipping them with practical skills to run mobile kitchens and build sustainable livelihoods.
Our Drop Store initiative places donation points at businesses, private schools and corporates, where contributions of all sizes are collected, cleaned and repaired by unemployed youth and caregivers. These goods are then redistributed to communities in need, extending dignity and hope.
Additionally, youth are trained to re-upholster donated items and sell them online, gaining entrepreneurial, ICT and business management skills. By integrating training, mentorship and enterprise, Intended Family Africa ensures unemployed individuals contribute positively to their lives, families, and the broader economy.
Our model not only addresses immediate needs but also nurtures resilience, independence and leadership, creating a cycle of empowerment that transforms communities from within. Therefore, we encourage more partnerships from the private sector and businesses to continue supporting our mission and sustain our impact nationwide.
