Detailed Information

Founded in 1976, Loreto School Queenswood in Queenswood Pretoria, offers a distinguished private education for boys and girls from Grade RRR to Grade 7. When your child enrolls at Loreto School Queenswood, you can be assured that he or she is seen as more than just a number; they are seen as an unique individual with needs as special as they are. We believe in providing a nurturing and personalised learning environment where each student’s distinct talents and requirements are both acknowledged and celebrated. Our small classes enable us to foster a wonderful interaction between learners and educators.

Loreto School Queenswood is the ideal place for parents who are looking for a place where their children are loved and challenged, rather than getting lost in the crowd. Join us on an educational journey where faith, academic excellence, and values-based education go hand in hand. The atmosphere at Loreto School Queenswood is Christ-centered and life giving. We challenge learners to grow both intellectually and spiritually. Loreto children sense a balance between high standards and grace and are encouraged to love their studies and find delight in God’s creation and all who live in it. “We Grow Children for Life” by instilling our core values of justice, freedom, sincerity, truth, and joy and offering each child the opportunity to grow into the best version of themselves.

At Loreto School Queenswood we encourage participation and celebration, leadership development and formation and inclusivity.  We encourage our learners to strive for personal excellence and instil in them a commitment to being “Agents of Social Change”.

Pre-Primary

Our pre-primary school includes the reception phase. We welcome children from Grade RRR, ages 3 – 4, Grade RR, age 4 to 5 and Grade R age 6.  Many schools have fallen into the trap of formalising their reception year with uniforms, pen and paper work and formal reading instruction, we remain true to the well-documented evidence that the best way for young children to learn is through play. Our Play is meticulously planned, well designed and scaffolded. It has definite planned outcomes and is not merely a way to pass the time.

Grade 1-7

The atmosphere at Loreto School Queenswood encourages kids to be joyful, self-assured, and easy going. Every student, in every grade, is inspired to develop their unique skills by our teachers, via art, music, and interactions with other schools. With regard to how we approach sports and extracurricular activities, we stand apart from the competition. All students are encouraged to participate in a variety of sports, and while success is vital, we prioritize belonging to a team over individual success in order to promote camaraderie and a sense of family.

We also offer:

Robotics

Designed for curious minds from Grade 4 to Grade 7, our Robotics program is an exciting journey where innovation and imagination collide. Robotics is not just about building cool machines; it is about empowering young minds with valuable skills that will shape their future.

Music

Music plays an integral part in our school.  At Loreto, we enjoy singing. This is evident in our two school choirs, the Junior Choir and the Senior Choir, that participate in various festivals and Eisteddfods during the year.

Art

We believe that every child is an artist in their own unique way. With colors as our companions and creativity as our compass, we embark on a journey of self-discovery and expression. Our art program instils the values of perseverance and resilience, moulding young hearts into brave souls unafraid to explore the uncharted waters of creativity.
